Hi! Welcome to My Blog!

My name is Samira Njoya and I am super excited you have stopped over on my blog. I am the founderand creative behind One Modern Momma. I began One Modern Momma in early 2017 as a way to document my journey as a newly married and newly pregnant millenial. I get a lot of the samequestions, so feel free to read some FAQ’s below!

FAQ’s

Q: How long have you and your husband been married?

A: My husband and I have been married for a little over 3 years now.

Q: How far apart in age are your two boys?

A: My boys are exactly 17 months apart.

-Fun fact is I’ve always wanted to have my kids close in age and though my second was not planned, it all worked out that way.

Q: Is it hard having your kids so close in age?

A: I feel like having any kids at all, no matter how close or far apart, is HARD! The initial stage of transitioning from one child to two is what I feel is the hardest. However, the reward definitely outweighs the struggles. I’m extremely blessed to have my boys and couldn’t imagine it any other way.

Q: What city do you live in?

A: La Plata, MD.A suburd about 45 minutes outside of Washington, DC.

Q: How did you and your husband meet?

A: We met outside of my summer job back in 2016. I was on my way back to school for another semester and I was at my job letting my manager know I would have to stop working for the summer. My hubby came right up to me and introduced himself and the rest is history.

Q: What are your kids’ names and ages?

A: Cairo (Almost 2), Amari (4 months)

AMARI

CAIRO

Q: How long have you been blogging?

A: I’ve had a blog for a little over 3 years now but I’ve been blogging more consistently for the last 6 months.

Q: How did you come up with your boys’ names?

When I first became pregnant, was really hopeful for a baby girl. Once I found out it was a boy, I knew I wanted to give my son a strong, masculine name. Even before getting married, I always told myself I would name all my kids with names that began with the same letter as their father’s (as a way to honor my husband). Once I met my man, I quickly realized there aren’t many G names I fancy…. Sorry Honey

I came across the name Cairo one day and I just knew within myself that it was the one. It also helped that my husband immediately loved the name as well.

With my sweet Amari, I had been following a youtuber by that name for many years and I always loved her name. While pregnant, I remember watching one of her videos and the name sounded like it could very much be unisex…Therefore, it just clicked and I knew right away that the name was perfect.
